Scientific Temper and Social Reforms – Ravichandran C ശാസ്ത്രീയമനോവൃത്തിയും സാമൂഹികപരിഷ്ക്കാരങ്ങളും
This is a speech made by noted author and freethinker Ravichandran C at Government College, Thavannoor at Malappuram district, Kerala on 07.12.16.
The talk titled ‘Scientific Temper and Social reforms’ was a part of the two day seminar on Scientific awareness conducted by the Department of Sociology of the college. Ravichandran explains how Science in it methodology and execution differs from traditional concepts of Knowledge generation. Tradition, Authority, Dogma and Revelation(TADR) were considered to be the principal sources of knowledge in the Pre Enlightenment societies world over. a priori knowledge was deemed good enough platform to construct to construct ideological castles with little empirical endorsement.
A posteriori sources begins to have the pride of place since Enlightenment in the modern world, the speaker observes. Ravichandran fielded a few questions from the students in the end.
